The fall of the unicorns brings a new dawn for water bears
Water Bear While the unicorns are licking their wounds, a new type of startup has gained massive attention. Some people call them cockroaches, but I prefer “water bears”.

Water bears are stealthy. They cannot be seen at the moment, but they are preparing for a big comeback. Here are three key things they are focusing on right now (2 min read).

How to avoid being disrupted as a VC
Mark Suster The VC industry is getting competitive. Attractive deals are hard to get into and yet only a select few can. The 19 hottest female-founded startups of 2015
Female Founders Women may be underrepresented throughout the tech sector, but they’re building some incredible startups, apps, and products. Some of them launched or came out of beta, while others raised funding or launched new services (mostly pics and some brief descriptions of their biz). You’ll want to keep these startups — and their founders — on your radar.

Founders

Five ways to kill an e-Commerce startup – Sean Percival from 500 Startups
Dead Startup Society Founders, you are only given an average of 20 months from your last raise before your business fails. Wouldn’t it be wise to consider your post mortem before you start really putting in the effort? At the very least consider learning from others who have failed their venture and lived to tell its tale. If you have 15 minutes, watch a youtube video by Sean Percival (venture partner at 500 Startups) on how he killed his startup.

The psychology of mobile usage & its impact on advertising
Facebook Mobile Ads The mobile mind is subtly different from the desktop-engaged mind. Yahoo recently found mobile ads achieve a more emotional response than traditional television spots. Millennials in particular were found to be the most responsive to mobile advertising, even amongst multitaskers who were on their phones while watching TV. This piece is mostly for the marketing nerds, but it is a real interesting read, especially if your venture is considering using the mobile distribution channel to get business.
